A Rare set of 4 Yew Wood Windsor Chairs Wheatland Retford
A Rare set of Four low back Windsor chairs in Yew Wood with Elm seats and Ash back legs by Wiliam Wheatland. William started out chair making in the market town of Retford this is where these chairs were made in circa 1820, he moved to the hamlett of Rockley in c 1825 to set up his new chair making workshop and to build a Methodist chapel he remained here for only 3 or 4 years he then gave up chair making but the workshop was carried on by George Nicholson. These chairs are in excellent condition the dimensions vary slightly.
