Antique Yew Wood Windsor Low Chair William Wheatland

A Good Yew Wood Windsor Chair possibly by William Wheatland, a lovely chair with a super colour and patina the seat is Elm the rest of the chair is Yew. William Wheatland worked firstly in Retford up to 1822 then moved to Gamston for a while then  Rockley a small hamlet on the old great north road, he was instrumental in building a tiny Methodist chapel there which caused him to become bankrupt  in 1830, the workshop was then taken over by George Nicholson. This chair has a scratch carved line around the seat and the spindles go right through the seat a trade mark of William.
